Born in the UK I have spent a number of years living and working overseas.

My first adventure was in Copenhagen, Denmark, where I spent almost 4 years enjoying what this Scandic country had to offer. I loved my time there, but my job ended and a new adventure awaited. That new adventure arose in Toronto, Canada. Having only ever visited the city for a one week vacation before I took the plunge and accepted the role. I packed my bags and the cat and hopped on a flight to Pearson airport. I spent the next four years living in Toronto; what a great city. Deciding on a career change, or more to the point needing to get out of the Corporate world I exited the company I had worked for for 27 years and returned to the UK to consider what new adventures the world had to offer.

Around this time my partner was posted to Barbados, and having never visited the island before I couldn’t think of a better place to plan the next stage of my journey. Since he moved out there in early 2016 I have visited twice and will be moving on a more permanent basis in November 2016. I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m looking forward to this new and exciting adventure.

As I won’t be in paid employment (I do plan to do some voluntary work with the Barbados RSPCA) I will have a lot of time on my hands and decided that I wanted to start a blog to document and share my journey. I love writing, reading, eating, cooking and travelling, and this blog will cover all of those things.

I also plan to set up a book club when I get settled out there with the objective of making a few friends along the way and creating a social group of likeminded people. I hope you join me on this journey, and I look forward to any feedback and advices that you have to offer.
