Having been used to driving in London and Toronto, where the queues can be long and slow, I was surprised to find that it can be very similar here. I had the impression that island life meant carefree driving on open roads. However, that is not the case in some parts of the island. Get snarled up in rush hour commuter traffic (I still haven’t identified the sweet spot) and you can be crawling along, with the wind not blowing in your hair.
The difference though, is the amazing view if you manage to be driving along one of the many coast roads. On Friday I was driving through Hastings towards Rockley and got snarled up in traffic caused by people leaving work early to begin their weekend. I was happy to have a slow drive and enjoy watching and listening to the waves crashing on the shore. There are far worse places to be sat in traffic!
I hope that you all had a great weekend.
